Biology and Behaviour

The purpose of this study post is to help you Understand the biological basis of human behaviour.Hence, in this post you will have to study the biological structures of the body which influence behaviour such as the nervous systems functions in influencing behaviour.

You must understand that behaviour means actions of an individual as a result of biological , psychological and social interactions.

In other words, behaviour is a product of man’s biological ,psychological and socio-cultural environment.Biology means bodily structures or systems such as nervous system , muscular systems and its  functioning.

The physical structure of the body plays an important role in the behaviour of an individual.Any action we do may be playing a guitar ,writing a letter or driving a vehicle depends upon the biological process.It is interseting to note that how does nerve cells/neurones transmit messages through the nervous system and influvence behaviour.In studying psychological the most important  biological structure is the nervous system.The nervous system carries signals frome the five sensory organs (eye,ear,nose,tongue and skin)to the brain and subsequently the responses (orders) from the brain and the spinal cord to various glands and muscles and controls the behavior of an individul.

Hence in addition to studving the brain and its structures of the nervous system you have to study how endocrine system influences the behaviour  through its chemical message system.
